5 Biggest Smartphone Brand In India In Q3,2018

Recently, International Data Corporation (IDS), the research company has released its quarterly ranking of the biggest smartphone brands. According to the Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the Indian smartphone market has reached an all-time high of 42.6 million-unit shipment in the third quarter (Q3) of 2018. 

The smartphone market has witnessed 9.1% year-to-year (YoY) growth. Let’s see the name of the five biggest smartphone companies in India:

Xiaomi:

Chinese smartphone maker company Xiaomi gets the first position in the Indian Smartphone Company. The company found 27% growth year-to-year in Q3 2018. The company shipped 11.7million units in this quarter and held 27.3% share in total shipment.

Samsung:

South Korean company Samsung that hold the top slot in the global smartphone shipment, is ranked the second position in the Indian Smartphone Market during Q3 2018. It held a 22.6% share. 

As per IDC, “Samsung registered an annual growth of 4.8% in 3Q18 at the back of its “infinity” series model “Galaxy J6″ followed by Galaxy J2 (2018), J8, J4 and the recently launched Android Go Model Galaxy J2 core with a middling demand.”

Vivo:

Vivo holds the third position in the Indian Smartphone Market. The company has a 10.5% share and has the second highest growth Y-o-Y in terms of shipment at 35.4%. 

“Owing to huge investments in marketing and promotional activities and attractive channel partner schemes, Vivo was able to maintain its high shipment,” IDC says.

Micromax:

With a 77.3% year-to-year growth, Micromax found the highest growth during the quarter in terms of shipment.

The Indian smartphone company shipped 2.9 million units in Q3 2018. In the previous year, they shipped 1.7 million units. But, IDC thinks that the shipments for the vendor may decline in the next quarter.

Oppo:

Oppo is only smartphone brand which saw a decline in terms of year-to-year shipment. According to IDC, the company registered an annual decline of 71% in Q3 2018.

In a report, IDC said that owing to fewer promotional activities and nonavailability of attractive channel and consumer schemes, the company continued to lose ground. The new released Oppo F9 and F9 Pro failed to create so much demand.
